Services

If you write fiction, I can help you strengthen your story’s structure, characterisation, and plot. I can also assist with your writing process if you find yourself getting stuck along the way.

Whether you write fiction or nonfiction, I can help you with a final quality check on your already edited and formatted manuscript so you can publish with confidence.

Genres I work with

As a developmental editor, book coach, and beta reader, my preferred fiction genres are mystery/suspense, magical realism, historical fiction and historical fantasy, contemporary fiction, and so-called women’s fiction, but I’m familiar with fiction in general. If you write in another genre, we might still be a good fit.

As a proofreader, I’m able to help with nonfiction as well as fiction projects. I prefer to work on shorter proofreading/proof-editing projects. This includes articles, essays, and book reviews, as well as other forms of writing. I have special interests in cats, food/cookery writing, history, mythology, plants, and brain injury. (I have been a cat guardian for nearly all my life, am a keen gardener and cook, have written a historical novel with an element of mythology – which was published by a small press in 2015 – and have personal experience of caring for someone with a brain injury.)

“Kendra helped me with a manuscript appraisal [critique] on a lengthy and complex novel – her feedback was quick and very thorough, helping me highlight some important areas for improvement that pulled the project together. Kendra was very communicative and helpful in answering outstanding questions I had, and great to work with.”

— Phil Williams, author of contemporary fantasy/horror and thrillers
